AUTUMN WINE CLUB DELIVERED

Autumn wine club deliveries are being sent out and the care packages contain the folllowing:

We are proud to spoil our wine club members with our deliveries and this is no exception. Last autumn we had enough bottles of 2011 Reserve Nebbiolo for each member to receive just one bottle before we ran out. In January we opened a bottle from our museum stock and was so excited to see how it is developing in bottle. It is so beautifully Italian – strong but delicate, intense but velvety with flavours and aromas not to be found in a Shiraz or Cabernet. If you can cellar it for another couple of years you will be well rewarded. In this release we have our 2012 vintage for you to enjoy. We have produced slightly more of this wine so if you are quick you will be able to order more. Another superb example of this exciting variety.

We also have included our first ever Family Reserve Verdelho of which there is also extremely limited supply available. We only put Family Reserve on our wine labels when the wine is at the very heights we seek – so we hope every sip builds a beautiful memory!

The benefits of being a wine club member are not limited to being the first to try our new releases, but also the only people to try some of our new releases! This applies to our 2011 Shiraz Viognier and 2013 Petit Manseng which originates from the heart of France’s Basque country. As the number of wine club members increase, more and more of our wines will be released purely to wine club members only!

The full retail price of this delivery is $245 which you have purchased for only $150 ($25 per bottle) including delivery. Don’t forget, as a member you will receive a 30% discount on any 12 bottle purchases from our web site www.symphonyhill.com.au and cellar door. Cartons may be mixed and delivery is free, anywhere in Australia.

2013 PETIT MANSENG
From the heart of France’s Basque country comes a new exotic variety now grown on the Granite Belt. Aromas of bush apricot and white peach peer through an array of stone fruit and tropical notes. Lovely textural flavours of melon, quince and pears with a rich long finish with zesty acid. To match with food, think of it like a Riesling with great acidity and delightful aromatics, such as a lightly spiced Asian dish.    Drink till 2016
RRP $30.00    Wine Club Price: $21.00

2013 FAMILY RESERVE VERDELHO
We have never released a Family Reserve Verdelho before – but 2013 vintage on our home block of Verdelho was its best every year to date. Gorgeous aromas of Bethonga pineapple and wild passion fruit tantilise the senses beyond repair. The rich vibrant palate of explosive tropical fruit including papaya and rockmelon path the way for a finish of sensual overload that will leave you speechless. A fresh, full flavoured wine best enjoyed lazing in a hammock overlooking the ocean whilst being fed prawns by your lover. Extremely limited cases of this wine available for purchase.    Drink till 2016
RRP $30.00    Wine Club Price: $21.00

2012 VIOGNIER
This wine exhibits lifted apricot and white peach aromas with a slightly nutty lift. Succulent stone fruit flavours beautifully balanced with acidity delivering a rich lip smacking complexity to the everlasting long finish. Viognier is our biggest bodied white wine with a gorgeous luscious mouthfeel. Extremely limited cases of this wine available for purchase.    Drink till 2020
RRP $30.00    Wine Club Price: $21.00

2012 RESERVE NEBBIOLO
Known as Barolo in Italy, our Reserve Nebbiolo is a little taste of Europe. Aromas that will bring on glorious dreams in your sleep with a palate that will make you feel 10 years younger. Enchanting aromas of dried herbs and rose petals easing through a garden of dark berries with a touch of anise. Delicious lip smacking flavours of mulberry and rosella enhance the powerful mid palate delicately layered with silky tannins and seamless acid. Extremely limited cases of this wine available for purchase. Best aged for another 5 years, however if opening before then, we recommend letting it breathe for over an hour.    Drink till 2022
RRP $65.00    Wine Club Price: $45.50

2011 SHIRAZ VIOGNIER
Exotic aromas of dark olives with cinnamon and nutmeg hints shine through an enriched sweet raspberry profile. The delicious flavours of rich ripe wild berry characters are enhanced with soft velvet tannins and a touch of aniseed on the finish. 7% Viognier was blended with this Shiraz to produce a silky smooooth palate.
Drink till 2022
RRP $45.00      SOLD OUT WITH ALL STOCK SENT TO WINE CLUB MEMBERS

2012 RESERVE SHIRAZ ‘THE ROCK’
Exotic aromas of Satsuma plum dark cherry and mocha peer through a peacock’s fantail of fruits of the forest. Lip smacking flavours of raspberry and licorice are handsomely backed with savoury notes and delicious grainy tannins.
These grapes were sourced from a vineyard in Ballandean that was planted around a huge granite rock. The name also pays tribute to the heavy body of the wine as well as the decomposed granite rock that has created the excellent draining soils of the Granite Belt over thousands of years.
Drink till 2032
RRP $45.00    Wine Club Price: $31.50

You are able to tailor your wine club deliveries to suit your preferences. If you are crazy in love with Gewurztraminer for instance simple email us and let us know to always make sure one of the bottles we send is this variety. We want to make sure you thoroughly enjoy every bottle in your ‘care’ package so just let us know your preferences!

GOLD FOR 2013 BARREL FERMENTED GEWURZTRAMINER

Our first ever release of Barrel Fermented Gewurztraminer has been awarded gold at the 2013 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show held in Mildura. The wine style is a sensational fusion of chardonnay like body and oak influence with the heady aromas of the Gewurztraminer which include Turkish delight, lychees and musk. The result is a unique wine which is truely sensational.

MIKE HAYES RETURNING FROM CHURCHILL FELLOWSHIP

Our winemaker extraordinaire, Mike Hayes, returns from Europe next week after two months exploring alternative grape varieties made possible from being awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship. His head will be filled with new ideas and inspirations.

It will be great to have him back and he will be hitting the ground running. We will be bottling last year’s red wines between now and vintage. Every year the aim is to have all the wine tanks empty before the first grapes arrive. This year will be very close!

Mike has had many wonderful viticultural and oenological experiences and these can be viewed at http://mikehayesfellowship.tumblr.com .

WELCOME TO NEW RESTAURANTS

A hearty welcome to restaurants now serving our wines. They include the simply stunning Spicers Resorts around Queensland after they invited me to showcase my wines to all their resort mangers as part of their staff training. The iconic Gun Shop Café in West End has listed 5 wines and it is wonderful to have our wines served in one of my favourite Brisbane restaurants. They have one of the best wine lists going around. Brisbane Gallery of Modern Art start serving our Gewurztraminer next week and after a glass of Gewurz you can nod more knowingly at the modern art work – who knows, you may even see visions. Maybe Glass of Gewurz at GOMA will be their new slogan. And lastly a big nod to QLD Performing Arts Centre for pouring our Pinot Gris.

Thank you so much for your support of our wines and for following our evolution from the early days until we become an overnight success in 10 years time!

Cheers!
Ewen and Elissa
